Now More Than Ever

Are you looking at how to live on mission during COVID 19? There’s nothing more relevant than loving your neighbor. Isn’t it interesting that Jesus gave us two “great” commandments two thousand years ago, and the second one is the most relevant, scalable, strategy today when we must shelter in place!

Are you looking at how to live on mission during COVID 19? There’s nothing more relevant than loving your neighbor. Isn’t it interesting that Jesus gave us two “great” commandments two thousand years ago, and the second one is the most relevant, scalable, strategy today when we must shelter in place!

It seems that disciples living on mission know this truth intuitively. At Love KC, we’ve added over 300 Lights in the last six weeks, reaching a new total of 2,446. Previous to COVID, we grew at an average of 50 new neighborhoods adopted a month. In the last six weeks, we’ve grown at 50 a week!

If the vocabulary is new, we call the person adopting a neighborhood a “Light.” The default for Lights is to adopt their 40 closest neighbors. We track our progress through blesseveryhome.com.  You can find equipping resources at Lovekc.net.

The good news is that we are growing at a viral pace from friends telling friends. We’ve beaten the same drum for 2.5 years, and in this challenging environment, the message resonates louder than ever.

I hear news stories every day. Neighbors are putting notes on doorsteps, running errands for the at-risk and elderly, buying produce from the farmer’s market and sharing vegetables with neighbors, giving food at food drives, donating blood, and more.

You can see video testimonies on our FB page, Love KC today, and in our FB Group, Love KC Living on Mission. The group exists for you to be inspired, find new ideas, share prayer requests, and build community as we find fresh ways to love our neighbors.

Join the mission to see every neighborhood in Kansas City adopted (approximately 10,000 neighborhoods). Let’s see our city turn to Jesus and be a part of a return to God.
