The most popular search on Youtube in 2020 started with the word, why?
You have questions; I have questions, so what do we do?
There is no simple answer, but don’t let that allow you to push away the angst. Lean into it.
God is not afraid of our questions. He’s not put off if we express our doubts, fears, tears, and struggles.
The Christian faith is deeply rooted in reality even as it acknowledges we need faith for what we do not understand—there is a lot of that, right?
Jesus often started with questions; it was a favorite way to teach. So natural.
Simple ones like, can I have a drink? Then He spoke about living water that doesn’t leave you thirsty.
Or deeper ones like, who do men say I am? Followed by, who do you say I am?
Here’s one for all of us, what do you want me to do for you?
Let’s park on that one. Admittedly, the world’s messed up, but that doesn’t surprise God. From the time He gave us a choice in the garden, we’ve misused it, bringing the stain of sin. We live in a world gone awry. We’ve all done our part to add to the mess.
But the story doesn’t end there. Jesus came, not to answer every question, but to be the Answer. Messiah means “Savior.” He came on a rescue mission to redeem and restore.
This is love in a battlefield of selfishness–no wonder it’s hard to see.
God will never overwhelm you. He invites. He’s patient. He waits.
He asks you, why?
Why do you fear His love?
Why do you hold on to that which inevitably lets you down?
Why do you run?
When will you stop running?
You have questions for Him. He has questions for you.
Maybe it’s time to talk. It’s called prayer. Grab your journal. Write down your thoughts.
How about today?
Why not?
