The children in our city are under enormous pressure dealing with violence, racism, and cultural upheaval. What will you do? What will we do?
Last week, Kansas City was in the national news for the tragedy with Ralph Yarl. Unfortunately, the tension spilled into Winnetonka High School, where a large fight occurred.
Did you know that in the first three months of this year, there have been 180 school shootings taking the lives of 195 and injuring 503?
This is horrific evil, and we have to do something!
We at Love KC have stopped wondering, and we are taking action.
We can build a wall of prayer around every school in KC and every child, but we need your help. View a one-minute video message from Gary here.
At Love KC, we are joining forces with Blesseveryhome and other ministries in the city to see every school, grade, middle, and high school in KC adopted in prayer by a person who will pray for their neighbors and the closest school (we call that person a Light) all 850+ schools.
We are building a wall of prayer around our children and schools. Will you join us in prayer-walking your neighborhood and the closest school regularly?
Do you believe prayer in our neighborhoods and schools will make a difference?
We use lovekc.net/blesseveryhome to track the progress and sustain the individual’s effort, it’s free, and every day you get a reminder to pray for five of your neighbors. Add the closest school to your list, and it will appear in your app and your map.
We already have over 3,700 Lights in Kansas City, but the sobering news is that there are over 17,000 neighborhoods that need a missionary on their street prayer-walking their neighborhood and schools.
Because we care about sustaining the effort, we invite churches to become Bless Partner Churches. Technology can help us reach further and sustain our efforts.
A Bless Partner Church receives the ability to see and mobilize its Lights. The leaders can see which neighborhoods and schools are adopted. In addition, the church gets a unique sign-up URL that connects its Lights to the church. And they receive a 36-page demographic report within the 5-mile radius of their church mission field.
We hope our churches will encourage their Lights to pray and walk their neighborhoods surrounding our city’s children and schools with a wall of prayer. Sign up here: app.blesseveryhome.com/church
We need a sustained effort. Evil doesn’t rest.
We have an even greater power available to us in prayer. But we must meet and exceed the energy of the enemy with love. We can do this, but we can only do it together!
I was delighted to learn that Caring for Kids already had their plan to combat violence, and they’ve been pushing for school adoption for years. Pray KC is hosting a Night for Prayer for Kansas City at Macedonia Baptist Church on Friday, May 5 at 6 p.m.
Claim Your Campus, led by Olivia Williamson, is planning a Saturday of Prayer-walking at least ten schools in our city on Saturday, May 6. You can find the details on their site.
It will take all of us to serve every school and every church in our city–let’s do it together.
Let’s build a wall of prayer around Kansas City!
Yes, there is urgency!
