Build a Wall of Prayer around our Children and Schools

School Kids Header

I know our schools and the children in them are super important to you.

I’m sure you see the tragedy of school shootings and wonder what we can do.

Did you know that in the first three months of this year, there have been 180 school shootings taking the lives of 195 and injuring 503?

This is horrific evil, and we have to do something.

We at Love KC have stopped wondering, and we are taking action.

We can build a wall of prayer around every school in KC and every child, but we need your help. View a message from Gary here.

At Love KC, we are joining forces with Blesseveryhome and other ministries in the city to see every school, grade, middle, and high school in KC adopted in prayer by a person who will pray for their neighbors and the closest school (we call that person a Light) all 850+ schools.

We are building a wall of prayer around our children and schools. Will you join us in prayer-walking your neighborhood and the closest school regularly?

We use lovekc.net/blesseveryhome to track the progress and sustain the individual’s effort, it’s free, and every day you get a reminder to pray for five of your neighbors. Add the closest school to your list, and it will appear in your app and your map.

We already have over 3,700 Lights in Kansas City.

Because we care about sustaining the effort, we aim to get at least 100 CHURCHES to become Bless Partner Churches. A Bless Partner Church receives the ability to see and mobilize its Lights. In addition, the church gets a unique sign-up URL that connects its Lights to the church. And they receive a 36-page demographic report within the 5-mile radius of their church mission field.

We hope our churches will encourage their Lights to pray and walk their neighborhoods surrounding our city’s children and schools with a wall of prayer. Sign up here: app.blesseveryhome.com/church

We need a sustained effort.

Evil doesn’t rest, and we have an even greater power available to us in prayer. But we must meet and exceed the energy of the enemy with love.

We can do this, but we can only do it together!

I was delighted to learn that Caring for Kids already had their plan to combat violence, and they’ve been pushing for school adoption for years. Pray KC has been a partner from the beginning. I’m sure you will receive Porsche’s planning invitations for the first week of May soon–so watch for it!

Claim Your Campus, led by Olivia Williamson, is planning a Saturday of Prayer walking at least ten schools in our city on Saturday, May 6. Watch for more coming soon.

Joel McGill is leading a national campaign to Stop Violence through All America that is ongoing throughout the year.

It will take all of us to serve every school and every church in our city–let’s do it together.

Our Love KC team put together a list of over 900 churches, and the day after Easter, we are launching a 51-day project to build a wall of prayer around the children in our city. There are 19 of us at Love KC dedicated to this project.

We will email and call every church for which we have an email or phone to recruit. Building a wall of prayer around every child and every school is a massive effort, but we could do even more if we did it together.

We believe 100 churches becoming Bless Church Partners and mobilizing their Lights will lead to all 850 schools being adopted in 51 days.

Love KC is committed to funding the technology and mobilization. It is $216 annually for a church to be a Bless Partner so they can see the activity of their Lights and know which schools are adopted.

We raise the money to ensure every church can have the technology accessible for one year. If the church wants to pay, we encourage that effort, but I’m sure there are churches in our city that wouldn’t get involved if they had to pay. We want to remove the financial barrier and turn it into a blessing.

We’d plan to give the Bless Partner Church a subscription as a gift to the church for one year if they adopt the schools the people in their congregation love and support.

Nehemiah rebuilt the wall around Jerusalem in 51 days by calling every family to take up a part of the wall. Each family had a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other.

Let’s build a wall of prayer around Kansas City!

Please pray to see if there is a part you can play in this citywide effort.

Can we say together, Not on my watch!

I’m gathering any interested leaders at the Lenexa Plexpod at Noon on Wednesday, April 12. We’ll provide the meal if you come to dream and pray together.

Yes, there is urgency!

Gary

The Light defeats the darkness, and Easter reminds us nothing is impossible!
