There is never a dull moment in Zac and Nicole Dinsmore’s lives. They both serve in leadership positions at Life Mission Church in Olathe, along with raising their young son Judah, and loving their neighbors. Nicole also serves as a board member for Love KC.
Zac and Nicole pray for their neighbors using the Bless Every Home map and weekly prayer list. When COVID hit, they and their neighbors spent more time home and outdoors. This opened up opportunities for them to meet and develop relationships with those for whom they’d been praying.
When you pray for your neighbors, expect God to work. Nicole befriended an elderly believer, and the relationship grew. She began texting Nicole with her prayer requests. As a result of this growing friendship, her neighbor is now faithfully attending Life Mission Church.
A Hispanic family nearby with two sons is caught up in the drug trade. God laid them heavily on Zac’s heart. He has labored in prayer for them and sought open doors to develop a friendship. He’s also learning Spanish to better communicate with their mother. Zac recently had his first conversation with her in Spanish. God is at work!
A couple weeks ago the two sons were outside in a fight. Zac went over and intervened. As a result, one of the young men came over and apologized to Zac, thanked him, then asked for a Bible. He also asked Zac to help him read it. Nicole says, “God has given them favor and it is in His time.”
Nicole shared that being diligent, determined, and intentional in prayer, is one part, the other is to to be available. We cooperate with God to open doors for making connections.
The Bless Every Home prayer lists combined with prayer give us a heart for our neighbors. Following His prompting leads to conversations which can lead to salvation.
God’s placed you in a mission field that starts with our neighbors and likely includes co-workers, friends and relatives. Let Nicole and Zac’s story inspire you to be available to God and those in your sphere of influence.
