“Dr. Gary and Rev. Belinda Kendall founded Love KC in August of 2017 with the support of a good friend, Eric Rochester, Director of The Sending Project and long-time mentor, Gary Schmitz. Their 41 + year career in ministry to Kansas City includes the following.

Gary and Belinda Kendall married in 1979 and moved to Kansas City to become Associate Pastors at The First Church of God in KCK. Three and one-half years later, Gary became the Pastor. God blessed their family with four children, Kristen, Jeremy, Luke and Megan.

In 1985, with the support of First Church, Gary and Belinda led a group of seven families who lived in Olathe to plant The Indian Creek Community Church. Indian Creek focused on reaching non-churched friends who lived in the surrounding neighborhoods and grew to 350 attendees by year five when they planted their first church. They planted their second church by year ten and built their first building in 1996.

Gary and Belinda led Indian Creek for 32 years, reaching of thousands in Kansas City, planting two more campuses, and leading three building projects. Through the Kendall’s leadership, many pastors trained to pastor churches around the country. 

Gary and his friend, Robin Wood, founded CMA, the Church Multiplication Association in 1999. CMA coached and supported the planting of 78 churches over the next eight years. Gary merged CMA into the ministry of Healthy Growing Churches as the church planting arm in 2008.

Belinda is an ordained pastor and an advocate for women in ministry. Belinda caught a vision for leading teams of women to serve in India. At last count, Belinda’s made 26 trips to India to train women in ministry. 

Gary and daughter, Kristen Levitt, re-started Project Partner in 2010. Project Partner was a not-for-profit working in China. Rev. Donna Thomas originally founded it. They led 20+ teams to China for the next ten years.

Olathe Major, Michael Copeland asked Gary, to found the Olathe Hispanic Coalition. Five years later, the organization was supported and staffed by the City Council. In that same year, Gary was honored to receive the Olathe Humanitarian of the year in 2016.

PastorServe Honored Gary in 2018 with the Dr. Chales Briscoe Award for Urban Ministry, an award annually given to a pastor who served Kansas City with distinction.

Gary and Belinda founded Love KC in 2017 to support the work of disciple-making in Kansas City. Love KC has grown to serve thousands of Lights who adopt their neighborhood to live the pray, care, share, and disciple lifestyle The vision is for every neighborhood in Kansas City to be adopted by a disciple living on mission where they live, learn, work and play.

Additionally, Belinda works for PastorServe as a coach for women in ministry. Belinda helped found the Women Living on Mission network for The Sending Project.

Gary and Belinda agree that living as grandparents to their three grandchildren, Landon, Morgan and Evelyn, is one of their highest callings. 

In addition to leading Love KC, Gary works for Gloo, a tech, data, platform company located in Boulder, CO. Gary serves as on their marketing team as a Cities lead. Gary leads the effort in Kansas City and consults with city leaders across the nation.
